Michael Bisping vs Kelvin Gastelum
Everyone knows the story. It was suppose to be Kelvin Gastelum vs Anderson Silva but Silva tested positive for the second time in his career and got removed from the card. In no time Michael Bisping stepped up and took the fight. The fact that Bisping took the fight on short notice is not surprising Bisping is a warrior, except seemingly when he has the belt, what’s surprising to me is that the UFC would actually let him fight.
The fight was made a week after he had been knocked down and choked unconscious by Georges St Pierre. The fight will happen three weeks after he was knocked down and choked unconscious by Georges St Pierre. How ridiculous does that seem in this era?
A 100% Bisping would be a good fight for Gastelum, his striking, pace and scrambling would make it a hell of a contest but I don’t see Bisping being 100%. I don’t see how he can be physically and mentally ready for a guy like Gastelum. I see Kelvin beating him on the feet and finishing on the ground.
Prediction: Gastelum by TKO (Gastelum by KO)
Li Jingliang vs Zak Ottow
I like Jingliang, he’s big, strong and aggressive. Not really a spectacular striker but solid and can hold his own. Good wrestler and really good on top.
Zac Ottow is kinda good everywhere without being great. Since he came to the UFC he’s had 3 fights and three split decisions, all good competitive fights.
I can see Ottow having success early on and winning the first round by countering well and kicking, then I think Jingliang will adjust for the next two rounds and win a decision.
Prediction : Jingliang by decision (Jingliang by TKO)
Wang Guan vs Alex Caceres
Wang Guan is making his debut here in a fight I think could potentially be fight of the night. Another Sanda fighter who has been doing MMA from a young age. He’s good on the feet, good fast punches and he swarms on people when he thinks he has them hurt.
Caceres is also a Kung fu guy and can look great against the right opponent. Obviously he has been in the ring with better opposition than Guan has and he has the experience advantage. Caceres is great if opponents stay back and give him time to work. He’s at more of a disadvantage if they can get close, make it scrappy and use takedowns. Will Wang Guan be able to go this? Or will he fight fire with fire.
This one could go either way but I think Wangs punches and the fact it’s China give him enough of a advantage to win this.
Prediction : Guan by decision (Guan by decision)
Muslim Salikhov vs Alex Garcia
Muslim Salikhov makes his debut here. A Sanshou world champion. Could definitely be one to watch. I always say though there is a big difference looking spectacular outside the UFC where maybe the competition ain’t so great and once you get to the octagon. Considering that Salikhov last two wins were knockouts of Ivan Jorge and Melvin Guillard, I think he will do ok.
Garcia is a good solid fighter, decent all round but has a pretty unspectacular record. Win some lose some. A tough guy for sure but a guy that they are expecting Salikhov to beat.
On the feet Salikhov has more tools, solid puncher with brutal kicks and good at keeping away enough to land those strikes. And with a Sanshou champion, clinching probably isn’t the best idea anyway. Garcia needs to make it scrappy, hustle against the fence, look for the takedown.
For me though, I think Muslim shows his skills and gets the tko.
Prediction: Salikhov by TKO (Garcia by submission)
